Best of 2025 Charleston area Beach Sessions
Friday, January 02, 2026 | By: Erin Rose Photography LLC
This past year, I had the incredible opportunity to photograph at the stunning Charleston Beaches of Kiawah Island, Folly Beach and Isle of Palms more than 80 times, helping clients capture their dream beach sessions. Despite the unpredictable weather in 2025, we managed to navigate the challenges with minimal rescheduling, ensuring everyone experienced a memorable shoot even if we had to dance around a few raindrops.
Join me as we explore each beach in Charleston and highlight some of the year's standout sessions for families of all sizes!
2025 Favorite Kiawah Island Family Sessions
Kiawah Island continues to be a cherished destination for family beach sessions, offering a serene atmosphere year after year. Its immaculate beaches are tranquil, meticulously maintained, and largely unaffected by beach erosion seen in other Charleston coastal areas. The stunning scenery on Kiawah Island is unparalleled, featuring the exquisite grounds of The Sanctuary Hotel, lush wooded areas nestled between the dunes, and expansive stretches of soft sand. I have several favorite locations throughout the island, and here are some of my top photographs.
2025 Best of Folly Beach Family Sessions
While Folly Beach holds a special place in my heart, I've noticed a shift in bookings for beach sessions over the past couple of years. 2025 brought some wonderful changes for Folly with its newly renourished beach, making it much easier to enjoy dry sand, even during high tide. However, since I do not offer sessions at the Lighthouse preserve, I have observed a decline in its popularity. Thankfully, I still have my loyal locals and returning vacationers, which allows me to visit from time to time. Despite the overall tourist buzz, I recommend early morning sessions for those beautiful, serene beach shots without the crowd cluttering your images.
2025 Best of Isle of Palms and Wild Dunes Sessions
Isle of Palms has become my go-to beach for photography this year. I discovered a stunning beach access point that offers a delightful blend of tall grass, a charming tree line, a picturesque boardwalk, and breathtaking dunes. The added bonus of a little sailboat is a crowd pleaser. Despite being the furthest drive, the experience of sinking my toes into the warm sand makes it all worthwhile.
It's worth noting that Isle of Palms is currently facing significant erosion challenges, similar to those Folly Beach has experienced in the past. The northern and southern ends of the island are struggling, leaving minimal beach area during high tide, which posed challenges for client sessions in those spots. Fortunately, many were able to join me at my favorite location, ensuring their sessions could go ahead as planned. This will be something to watch this coming beach season as erosion continues and renourshment stalls.
This year has been a wonderful journey capturing cherished family moments and milestones for my clients at Kiawah Island, Folly Beach, and Isle of Palms. I eagerly anticipate reconnecting with familiar faces and welcoming new clients in 2026.
