A Summer Senior Session in Downtown Charleston with The Pink Figgy
There is something so special about summertime senior sessions in downtown Charleston. The city is full of color, historic charm, and beautiful light—and when you add a one-of-a-kind vintage car like The Pink Figgy, you end up with a senior session that is as unique as the graduate herself -
Meet Addie
Addie kicked off her Charleston senior session in the heart of the historic South of Broad neighborhood at the corner of Church and Atlantic Streets. We had rented The Pink Figgy for the first 30 minutes of her session, and it was the perfect way to celebrate the beginning of her senior year.
For those who haven't seen it before, The Pink Figgy is a rare Nissan Figaro originally built in Japan in the early 1990s. Its custom blush pink paint makes it one of Charleston's most sought-after photography props, especially for senior portraits. It brings the perfect mix of vintage charm, personality, and fun to every session.
During our 30 minutes with the car, we captured so much variety—from portraits beside the Figgy to photos inside the car, along with a few sweet images featuring Addie's mom and sister. One of the reasons these sessions work so well is because every angle creates something different.
A huge thank you goes to Meredith, the owner of The Pink Figgy, who was incredibly helpful on a busy downtown summer morning. She found us the perfect parking spot so we could maximize every minute of our rental and focus on creating beautiful images.
Addie chose a simple short white dress for this portion of her session, which paired beautifully with the soft pink of the Figgy. She also brought along an adorable pink cap and gown to celebrate officially entering her senior year of high school. The coordinating colors created such a timeless, feminine look that fit Charleston perfectly.
Once we said goodbye to the Figgy, we made our way over to one of Charleston's most iconic landmarks—Rainbow Row.
For the second half of her session, Addie changed into a gorgeous short cobalt blue dress that made her beautiful green-brown eyes absolutely pop. The vibrant blue was the perfect complement to Charleston's colorful historic homes, blooming window boxes, and charming streets.
Some of my favorite images from the morning were actually taken near the corner of Tradd Street. Even though it was already late morning, we were pleasantly surprised by how beautiful the light was in that area. Between the gorgeous flower boxes, colorful architecture, and quiet streets, every corner seemed to offer another perfect backdrop.
As we wandered through the neighborhood, we found all of our favorite Charleston colors, overflowing window boxes, and hidden pockets of beauty, wrapping up the entire session in just one hour.
One of the things I love most about Charleston senior sessions is that no two are ever alike. Whether we're incorporating historic streets, iconic landmarks, or unique props like The Pink Figgy, every session is designed to reflect each senior's personality and style.
Thinking About Adding The Pink Figgy to Your Senior Session?
If you've been dreaming of including The Pink Figgy in your own Charleston senior photos, I highly recommend scheduling your session as early as possible—ideally at sunrise or before 8:00 a.m.
Downtown Charleston becomes busy quickly, especially during the summer months. An early morning session gives us the best chance for soft, flattering light, comfortable temperatures, quieter streets, and easier parking throughout the historic district. The result is a relaxed experience and photographs that truly showcase the beauty of Charleston.
If you're looking for a Charleston senior photographer who can help you create a session that's colorful, classic, and uniquely you, I'd love to help you plan every detail—from choosing the perfect outfits to incorporating special touches like The Pink Figgy for a session you'll never forget.
