Historic Charleston with The Avilla Family

I was first contact by Tammy in early December looking for family portraits while visiting in Charleston. Soon after I found out they had actually been referred to me by another regular client of mine also from the Tennessee area. It's such a small world and a world where word of mouth is king. This family had never met me but mentioned they would be visiting the area and had seen my previous work with another family. That family spoke highly of their experience with me and BOOM we got them booked for their stay here in Charleston!

When clients book a full session with me they get my artsy brain and photographic eye for a full hour. What does that mean for them? A WHOLE LOT of variety in their session. I have SO many favorite spots in Historic Downtown that depending on the day or time frame we can start in one place and end another place that gives a totally different look.

For this family's session specifically downtown was SLAMMED with visitors. It was January 2nd so naturally we had lots of people in town since New Year's day fell on a Wednesday this year. We started on the famous Chalmers Street. This street is full of texture between the cobblestone, brick walls and archways, and of course the greenery of Washington Square Park.

From there a brief walk down Broad and a right on Church to one of my favorite walls, and a collection of my favorite alleyways.

The BEST thing about photographing in Historic Charleston is that if you don't like the color of a particular wall as your back ground you can ALWAYS turn around and find something totally different. The difference in location of the spot above and below is a matter of about 50 feet!

And of course, as typically requested we made a stop at the iconic Rainbow Row.
It was BOOMING with people but we did our best to work around them of course.

Thank you Avilla Family!
